Itinerary

This 7-day Great Migration Tour at the Mara River Crossing with Akika Tours Adventure offers unforgettable wildlife experiences in Tanzania’s most iconic landscapes. The journey takes you deep into the Serengeti National Park, where you will witness the dramatic Mara River crossings one of nature’s most spectacular events during the Great Migration. Along the way, enjoy incredible sightings of wildebeest, zebras, crocodiles, and big cats, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Serengeti’s endless plains.

Day 1: Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha City

Our Safari guide from our office will pick you up at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport and transfer you to your hotel in Arusha for relaxation and overnight. Get time to relax at the lodge and be prepared for a next day of safari Feel free to experience Arusha city tour with our guide for free.



Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire Park

Pick up from the Lodge early morning and start a beautiful journey to Tarangire National while carrying lunch boxes. Tarangire Park is well known for its large elephant herds, consists of a diversity of landscapes, from seasonal swamps to savanna with the Tarangire River wending its way through the parklands. It is possible that we will have the experience of seeing Lion stalking his prey or leopards watching whilst relaxing in the trees above. Once game drives is done, we drive to your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.



Day 3: Central Serengeti Park

After breakfast, departure for the Central Serengeti Park for wildlife sighting. Enjoy lunch in a suitable place inside the park. In the afternoon we will continue for the game drive activity before reaching the camp. Next day we will spend full day inside this park for game drives. Serengeti is more well-known for its great migrating herds of zebra, antelope, and wildebeest. Be ready to see resident predators, leopard, cheetah, and lion, fulfilling their role in the circle of life.



Day 4: Serengeti North with Great Migration

Get up early and enjoy breakfast, then we drive to Northern Serengeti around Mara River where Great Migration is happening. Our safari guide will find the best spot point for Great Migration. The Great Migration is the largest herd movement of wildebeests, Zebra and other animals crossing Mara River to Masai Mara in Kenya. Migration crosses Mara River that is full of Crocodiles. The best time to visit if from July to early October every year.



Day 5: Serengeti North with Great Migration & Central Serengeti

Get up early and enjoy breakfast, then continue with game drive in Northern Serengeti with special eye to the Great Migration. Later we drive back to Central Serengeti where we stop for overnight. The Great Migration is the largest herd movement of wildebeests, Zebra and other animals crossing Mara River to Masai Mara in Kenya. Migration crosses Mara River that is full of Crocodiles. The best time to visit if from July to early October every year.



Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, then depart to Ngorongoro for game drive inside Ngorongoro Crater while carrying lunch boxes. This park constitutes the largest uninterrupted caldera in the world and one of the natural wonders of Africa: with the presence of about 30,000 large mammals resident all year round (such as buffaloes, lions, elephants, cheetahs and rhinos) and many varieties of birds such as flamingos, eagles, buzzards. Be ready to see many animals here within few time.



Day 7: Lake Manyara Park & Transfer back to Airport

After breakfast, depart to Lake Manyara for game drives while carrying lunch boxes. Once we finish the game drive we will transfer you to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport. The park is famous for the arboreal lions, which hide among the branches of the trees, and the numerous colony of baboons that populate the forest and which will accompany you along the road from the moment you enter the park.

Lake Manyara National Park is a scenic wildlife destination in northern Tanzania, known for its diverse ecosystems, including lush groundwater forests, open grasslands, and the alkaline Lake Manyara itself. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, large flocks of flamingos, and rich birdlife. Visitors can also spot elephants, giraffes, hippos, and a variety of other wildlife while enjoying breathtaking views of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.
