This 6 day Kilimanjaro climbing itinerary via the Marangu Route is carefully designed by Akika Adventure Tours to provide a safer, more comfortable, and well acclimatised ascent to the Roof of Africa. Known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” Marangu is the only Kilimanjaro route offering hut accommodation, making it ideal for trekkers who prefer structure, comfort, and a well-organized trekking experience. Your journey begins upon arrival in Moshi, where you will meet your professional mountain guide for a full briefing, equipment check, and final preparation. At Akika Adventure Tours, safety and acclimatisation are prioritized from the very beginning to ensure a successful climb. The trek starts at Marangu Gate, entering the lush rainforest zone where you will experience dense vegetation, fresh mountain air, and wildlife such as colobus monkeys and colorful bird species. The trail is gentle and scenic, offering a perfect introduction to the mountain environment. On the second day, you continue your ascent through the heath and moorland zone toward Horombo Hut. The landscape opens up dramatically, revealing spectacular views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Unique alpine vegetation such as giant lobelias and groundsels dominate this zone. On the third day, an additional acclimatisation day at Horombo Hut allows your body to adjust to altitude. Optional hikes to Mawenzi Ridge or Zebra Rocks provide excellent panoramic views and significantly improve summit success chances. The fourth day takes you across the alpine desert zone toward Kibo Hut. The terrain becomes more rugged and remote as you cross the vast saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo, preparing for the final summit push. In the early hours of the fifth day, you begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). This challenging but rewarding climb leads you to Gilman’s Point and finally to the summit of Africa, where you will witness an unforgettable sunrise above the clouds. After celebrating your achievement, you descend back to Horombo Hut for rest. On the final day, you descend through the moorland and rainforest zones back to Marangu Gate, where you receive your official summit certificate. You are then transferred back to Moshi, marking the successful completion of your Kilimanjaro expedition with Akika Adventure Tours.
